Bellator Fighting Championships Live From Dayton OH

Ringside from Dayton OH.

Ready for a great card including one of the best fighters in the world, Eddie Alvarez as he competes in the Lightweight Semifinal against Eric Reynolds. The other Semifinal will be Toby Imada vs. Jorge Masvidal. Each of the semifinal winners will receive $50,000. First match at 8:00.

1st fight of the night:
Frank Carabello vs. Waylon Lowe (was on the latest version of TUF) 155 LBS.
Lowe's hometown is Jefferson City, TN but spends considerable time in Cincinnati, OH. Lowe has trained with Team Vision in the Cincy area. Carabello comes out to The Eye of the Tiger.
The fighters are introduced in both English & Spanish.
1st Round: Solid leg kicks by Carabello start the fight. Great take down by Lowe. Lowe gains top position dropping some elbows. Lowe is in Carabello's full guard but manages to drop some elbows. Lowe is an excellent wrestler. Lowe continues to land wicked elbows and continues to hold control with just over 2 minutes left in the 1st round. With 1 minute left in the round the referee stands them up. Carabello's face has taken a pounding. Lowe shoots and slams Frank to the ground and gains control with 45 seconds left in the round. The round ends with Lowe in control. Easy 1st round for Lowe.
2nd Round: Carabello starts with a kick then Lowe shoots with the thrust of a lion and slams Frank to the canvas. Powerful takedown. Carabello continues submission attempts from the ground but Lowe powers out. Lowe bridges out and gains side control. Lowe attempts a guillotine choke but couldn't sink it in. Lowe regains the top position in Frank's full guard. With 2 minutes left in the round Lowe starts landing elbows. Lowe regains side control and uses his strength and leverage to maintain control. 1 minutes left in the round Lowe still has side control landing hammer strikes to Frank's ribs. The round ends with Lowe on top. Easy 2nd round for Waylon.
3rd Round: Carabello's only chance is a submission or KO. Frank's right eye has a large mouse. The fight is in the stand up when Lowe lands a solid left hook. Lowe lands another impressive take down. Lowe slips Frank's guard and gains side control. Frank slips out and drops into full guard. Frank attempts a triangle choke to no avail. 1:33 left in the round and its all Lowe. Lowe cruises to what will be a unanimous decision.
Official Decision: Lowe via UD
Justin Edwards 1-0 vs. John Troyer 8-2 170 LBS
1st Round:Furious start with Edwards landing vicious strikes and knees. Troyer grabs Edwards and takes him to the ground. Troyer attempts an armbar from the bottom. Edwards escapes and unloads some wicked strikes. Edwards packs some punch. Incredible action. Troyer gains the top position looking for elbows then grabs Edwards back. Edwards immediately stands up and in bar fight fashion starts unloading. this fight isn't going to last long. Troyer gains a clinch and lands some knees. Edwards pulls away and grabs Troyer in a guillotine choke. Troyer tries to escape but cannot. WOW!!! Victory by submission for the 24 year old Edwards
Jorge Gurgel looks impressed with Edwards' victory. I'm officially nicknaming Edward the Piranha!!! I hope it sticks.
TammyBold Schneider vs. Jessica Pene 117 lbs (1st ever women's bout in Bellator)
1st Round: The fight starts with an exchange then a wicked knee to the body by Pene. Pene is well versed in Muay Thai. Penne takes the fight to the ground and captures Tammy's back. Jessica lands wicked combinations to the body then to the head from the standing position.
The fight is stopped quickly.
Official Decision: Pene wins via referee stoppage due to strikes 1:35 in the 1st round.
Pete Dominguez 9-3 vs. Matt " The Jagger Bomb" Jaggers 10-5 145 lbs both fighters hail from Indiana
1st Round: Big crowd here for Jaggers. Pete lands a leg kick to start the fight. Both fighters are very quick. Both fighters look very comfortable on their feet. Jaggers attempts a head kick which narrowly misses. Pete continues to land soft leg kicks that score points and keep Matt off balance. The fighters engage against the cage with neither gaining an advantage. Great take down by Jaggers who gains the full mount. Pete leverages up locking both arms on his back. Jaggers grabs Pete's back and begins to unload heavy hands. He manages a RNC and has it sunk tightly. Pete, useing his hands pulls out of the choke momentarily. Great moves to stay alive by Pete. Matt continues to hold his back and sinks a RNC in deep. Pete taps out.
Dan Evensen 10-4 vs. Raoul Romero 3-1 Heavyweight
1st Round: Two big guys. Evensen has a lot of experience including in the UFC. Romero pushes Dan against the cage. Both men are very strong. Neither can get advantage in the clinch. Raoul lands some knees in the clinch. Dan lands a wicked left hook knocking RR to the mat. Dan controls the action on the ground landing several right hands. The fight goes back to the stand up. Dan hurts him again with some wild haymakers. RR seems to taunt him with a smile. RR misses a head kick and eats a right hand. The fight goes to the ground with RR gaining the top position. RR grabs Dan's back as the round ends.
2nd Round: RR immediately grabs Dan seeking a take down. Dan sprawls away from RR and takes him to the ground dropping into RR's guard. Dan is controlling the ground action gaining side control. Dan gains full mount and drops several punches when the referee stops the action.
Dan wins via TKO due to strikes. 1:44 into round 2.

Sherman Pendergarst, trains with Miletich 11-12 vs. Joey "The Mexecutionor"Beltran 6-2 Heavyweight
Round 1: Pendergarst is a physical specimen weighing in at 229lbs. Joey locks Sherman up and pushes him against the cage. They seperate with both throwing punches that do not land. Heavy punches thrown by each fighter with nothing of consequence. Then Joey lands several punches knocking Sherman senseless and ending the fight via referee stoppage 2:24 in the 1st round.
Josh Barnes 4-1 vs. Dave "Pee Wee" Herman 14-1 Heavyweight
Herman is a physical specimen. Great shape and ready to throw some leather.
1st Round: The fighters touch gloves then Barnes immediately throws some haymakers. A wild and chaotic start with Dave landing several wicked knees. Barnes is a brawler who is looking for the one punch victory. Dave lands several strikes as they disengage. The pace slows as both fighters gains their wits. Josh throws another wild hook that connects. Great knees but one connects low by Herman that stops the fight so Barnes can gain his composure and "catch his breath". The fight resumes and Josh appears to be OK. The fighters tap gloves and Barnes quickly throws some haymakers. Dave clinches and lands some knees to the midsection. Herman lands an inside leg kick pushing Josh back. Good front kick by Herman. The pace slows dramatically into a clinch. Herman lands a flying knee followed by a wicked knee to the face and attacks with several strikes ending the fight out of the blue as the ref jumps in.
Dave Herman wins via TKO due to strikes at 4:46 of the 1st round
BELLATOR LIGHT WEIGHT SEMI: Toby Imada 21-12 vs. Jorge Masvidal 17-3 155 lbs
1st Round: The fight starts with both fighters feeling each other out. Toby throws several leg kicks with only one grazing Jorge. No reach action as we approach the 1/2 way point of the 1st round. Both fighters are extremely quick. Jorge lands a nice left jab. Good combination landed by Jorge. They clinch with Jorge taking him down and unloading an array of punches. THey go back to their feet good escape by Toby. Jorge catches Toby's knee, great defense. Jorge lands a kick to Toby's side. Good upper cut by Jorge. Extremely quick hands. Jorge owns a 2 " height advantage and is using it. The round ends. Tough round to call I give it to Jorge.
2nd Round: Jorge and Toby both have boxing quality hand speed. Toby landed a nice strike to Jorge's face. Good jab work by Jorge. Toby's right eye is starting to swell. Good left by Toby. Great fight thus far. Both are extremely skilled. Both fighters land several punches as they are pinned against the cage. Jorge dances on his feet moving gracefully. Jorge's stiff left jabs are doing damage as blood is starting to stream from from Toby's right eye. Another left jab but Toby counters with a strong hook. 2nd round to Jorge
3rd Round: Great takedown by Toby. Jorge quickly escapes. The quickness of these fighters is difficult to put into words. Incredible. Good head kick by Jorge. Accidental low blow by Toby stops the fight to allow Jorge to regroup. The fight restarts. Good leg kick by Toby. The left jab of Jorge is lethal. Good body shots by Toby. Jorge, like a whip, snaps the left jab again. Toby shoots but great defense by Jorge but is taken down. A form of a standing triangle ends the fight. An incredible move by Toby. Toby jumped on Jorge's back with his head near Jorge's rear end. He locks his legs (both fighters are standing) and chokes Jorge out. They fall to the ground over, incredible.
Official Decision: Triangle Choke, 3:22 3rd round. Really a standing reverse triangle choke. Rare move indeed!!!
BELLATOR FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP LIGHTWEIGHT SEMIFINAL: Eddie Alvarez 16-2 vs. Eric Reynolds 11-1
Alvarez is one of the best fighters in the world at 155.
1st Round:
Reynolds holds a big height advantage. The fight starts with both fighters being very cautious. Alvarez closes the distance and takes Reynolds to the ground. Eddie holds control but hasn't been able to improve his position. Eddie then unloads some wild strikes from the top. Eddie postures up and lands a heavy strike landing in side guard. Eddie gains full mount. Reynolds cleverly escapes taking the fight back to their feet. Alvarez has tried several take downs and Reynolds has relied on leg strikes thus far. Minute left in the round Alvarez is clearly ahead. Eddie looks very good on the ground getting out of Eric's guard. The round ends with Eddie on top. Round 1 to Eddie.
2nd Round: Reynolds' attempts several haymakers but Eddie's quickness allows him to escape. Eddie grabs a single and gets the take down. Eddie attempts a guillotine which Eric rolls out of. The fight returns to the stand up where Eddie takes a double leg take down. Eric locks Eddie in guard by trapping his right leg. Eddie escapes and gains the mount position. Eddie lands several strikes. Eric attempts to buck him off to no avail. Eric gives up his back but manages to get to his knees and roll back into guard. Eric escapes back to his feet where Eddie promptly grabs a double leg and takes it to the ground. Eddie lands a couple of hammer fists which causes Eric to give up his back. He rolls back to Eddie in side mount with a darse choke. He sinks it in tight. Eric escapes eating a few punches before the round ends. 2nd round dominated by Eddie.
3rd Round: Eddie lands a right hook to start the round and quickly takes Eric to the ground. Eddie lies in full guard and Eric locks his legs to keep him there. Eric tries an arm bar from the ground. Eddie picks him up then throws him to the ground. Alvarez, surprisingly, has controlled this fight on the ground. He grabs a RNC and ends the fight.
Eddie ALvarez shows why he is one of the best pound for pound fighters on the planet and quite possibly the best 155lb on the planet. He continues to improve from fight to fight. Very impressive.
Official Decision: Tapout Due to RNC in 1:38 in the 3rd round.
